What Is a Check Valve Used For?

2024-09-14

A check valve is a valve that has a circular disc as the opening and closing part and blocks the backflow of the medium by its own weight and medium pressure. It is an automatic valve and is also called a non-return valve, a one-way valve, a return valve or an isolation valve. The disc movement mode is divided into lifting type and swing type.

What is the main purpose of a check valve?

Prevent backflow: In a fluid transmission system, once the fluid stops flowing or the flow direction reverses, the check valve responds immediately, automatically closes the channel, and resolutely prevents the fluid from flowing back. This mechanism effectively avoids system disturbances, equipment damage or unnecessary pressure fluctuations that may be caused by backflow.

Protect system equipment: The check valve can strictly monitor and maintain the flow direction of the fluid in the pipeline system. It ensures that the fluid always moves along the established path, avoiding the impact and damage caused by the backflow phenomenon to the pump, valve, pipeline and even the entire process equipment, thereby extending the service life of the equipment.

Maintain system pressure: In the complex fluid transmission process, the check valve can effectively prevent sudden peak pressure or pressure fluctuations from flowing back into the system, and maintain the system design working pressure within a reasonable range by accurately controlling the flow direction of the fluid.
